Let it be known that I have purged my bank account of that troublesome substance called money, and in exchange have received two things: 1) a set of plane tickets to Indianapolis for next week, which trip I must make for work, and 2) a newly minted Nikon D2oo camera body.
It's a whole new world. Goodbye Fujichrome Velvia, hello 10.2 megapixels.

Congratulations! You finally did it! I can't wait to see some of the pictures from it.
Did you buy yours online or locally? I'm still being indecisive.
I get most of my photography stuff at B&H. They invariably have the lowest prices on stuff online and they've been reliable in the past. When I lived in Indianapolis I had an excellent local shop that I trusted, but I haven't found anything here I feel the same way about.
Have you gotten your hands on a D200 to play around with it? Which other bodies are you thinking about?
Tony, the first pics will no doubt feature my kid and dogs standing in for mountain goats and sheep as I get acquainted with the machine!
Guzunteit.
Congrats! You'll have fun playing! Will you visit family in Indianapolis too?
Yep. Family and friends as well.
We've been relieving our bank account of that troublesome stuff, too, but I can't figure out what we've gotten for it.
Can't wait to see the pics! You *have* to post some of Indianapolis. I can't imagine a woman who loves Montana also loving Indiana.
Oooh, now there is an interesting, insightful statement to which there is no easy answer.
The short, easy, and ultimately incomplete answer, of course, is that I miss the place because it contains the lion's share of my family and friends, and old haunts, culinary and otherwise.
But I do have a certain appreciation for Indiana's landscape now that I've left. It's not an easy place to find open space -- there is one national forest -- but there is beauty to be found, if you look closely enough.
I may have to do a post.
I've held one in the shop but that's about it. Which other bodies? All of them LOL. Really though - D80, D40 (some letters after that one I think), Canon XTi, 30D.
