Dipping a toe back into the blogging pool

Yep, that's an alpine lake your eye has deftly discerned in the corner of the photo, along with a footpath lined with glacier lilies.

It gets more and more difficult to go back to the burbs -- even the burbs of a wonderful city like Portland -- every time I am compelled to do so. At the risk of saying too much too soon, that may become less of a problem in the coming months.

Welcome home! And thank you for the birthday wishes. Your photos (both of them) are great - is the Oregon one near your home? I assume the alpine lake is in Montana? They are both beautiful. Nice to have you back in blogland!

Hey everybody, good to see you!

That is Leigh Lake in the Cabinet Mountain Wilderness in northwestern Montana, last Saturday.

And it was cold -- the water, I mean. The ice was largely gone, but there were thin sheets of it still floating on the surface here and there. The air, on the other hand, was positively balmy.

I'll post more about it later, after I extricate myself from the pile of documents I fell in upon my return.
